Decorating Snowman Cupcakes

Snowman Cupcakes

How to Make Them

  • White fondant, black fondant, red fondant
  • Blue frosting
  • Black and Orange Edible Marker
  • Small round cookie cutters in different sizes (to make snowman)
  • Edible glitter flakes

To make this cupcake roll out your white fondant. Use the round cookie cutters to cut out three different sized circles. Lay each smaller one on top of the other so they overlap a little to form the body.

Roll out the black fondant and cut out a hat shape with a carving tool or sharp knife. Do the same with the red fondant but cut out a small thin piece to make the ribbon on the hat.

Once finished, place the hat on the snowman and center as desired. Use the red fondant to cut out 2 long strips to make his scarf. Eyeball it to make something that resembles a scarf. Use the carving tool to cut the ends of the scarf to resemble strands.

Place the scarves on the snowman’s neck. Lastly, you will use the black and orange edible marker to put the finishing touches on him.

Sprinkle a little bit of the glitter flakes at the bottom or wherever you want it to sparkle.

Marshmallow Snowman

How to Make Them

  • Large marshmallows
  • White frosting
  • Black frosting (for eyes)
  • Orange fondant (or orange candy)
  • Hershey’s Kisses (for hat)
  • Frosting tips #224 and #4
  • Toothpicks (to hold up snowman)

This marshmallow snowman took a little time to make. I’m sure after doing a few more it will be easier if you’re making a bunch for a big party. You can make these a day before and then just pop them onto your frosted cupcakes the day of.

Frost the cupcake base in white frosting using tip #224. Next, take your marshmallows (try to find a few different sizes if possible) and stack them up on top of each other to make the snowman body. The top marshmallow was cut in half (the cut end was placed facing downward) to make it smaller and so it would look like a snowman head.

Insert the toothpick into your snowman creation. Next, melt the Hershey Kiss for a few seconds in the microwave so that it will slide over the top of toothpick easily.

Use the black frosting with tip #4 to dot on the eyes of snowman as well as the buttons on his body. Roll out some orange fondant and then cut out a small piece to resemble a carrot and then place it where his nose should go. I used white frosting to stick it onto the marshmallow and it held up pretty well.

FYI: To reinforce your snowman cupcakes, add a dollop of white frosting to the back to make sure he won’t topple over.

Easy Snowman Cupcakes

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • White frosting
  • Black frosting
  • Black fondant and blue fondant (for hat)
  • Candy corn (for nose)
  • Frosting tip #4 and tip #21
  • Toothpicks (to hold up hat)

Frost the cupcake in white using frosting tip #21. Roll out the black fondant and cut out a little hat shape, smooth out edges. Next, roll out the blue fondant and cut out a strip to make the line on the hat.

Place the hat on the cupcake but before you do, (to give it some support) insert a toothpick into the cupcake at an angle to hold the hat in place, add a little icing to the top of the toothpick and place the hat over it! This will hold the edge up and keep it from flopping over. To make it even easier make the hats a few days before and they will harden naturally which will be even easier to work with (they won’t flop over).

Lastly, use the black frosting to dot the eyes and mouth of snowman and then use the candy corn as the nose.

Snowman Cupcake with Hat and Scarf

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • White frosting
  • White fondant
  • Round cookie cutter
  • Red fondant
  • Frosting tip #21 and #12 (to cut out tiny round fondant circle for hat)
  • Edible marker in black and orange
  • Edible glitter flakes

Frost the cupcake using tip #21 in white. Roll out white fondant and then use round cookie cutter to cut out the snowman’s head. Next, roll out the red fondant and eyeball a Santa hat or find a small photo on clipart and then cut it out and use it as a template so you can cut out the fondant hat. Place the hat over the snowman head.

Use the small end of tip #12 to cut out a small white piece of the fondant. Place this at the tip of the Santa hat.

Use the edible marker in black to draw on the face of Frosty and then use orange for his nose.

Use the red fondant to make a small scarf (cut two thin pieces). At the end of one scarf, use a sharp knife or carving tool to make slits in the fondant to make the fuzzy end of the scarf.

Add edible glitter flakes to look like snow!
