Decorating Ideas for Monster Cupcakes

Monster cupcakes are perfect for a Halloween or monster theme party for kids or adults. You can make them however you wish since no one really knows what a monster looks like… ;-)

Decorating Cupcakes with Monsters

Pink Three Eyed Monster Cupcake

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • Pink Frosting
  • Black Frosting
  • Miniature Marshmallows
  • Frosting Tip #4 (for eyes)
  • Small Leaf Shaped Cookie Cutter (for teeth)
  • White Fondant (teeth)

Frost your cupcakes in pink. Add the marshamallow eyes as shown and then use frosting tip #4 to fill in the black part of the eyes.

To make the teeth, you need to roll out some white fondant and use the small leaf shaped cookie cutter to cut out the leaves. Place each one so it overlaps the previous one and press down firmly to secure them all in a nice row to look like teeth.

Lastly, cut them down to size until they look like they will fit on the cupcake.

Fuzzy Monster Cupcakes

How to Make Them

  • Orange Frosting (fur)
  • White Frosting (eyeballs)
  • Black Frosting (black part of eyes)
  • Candy Corn (for horns)
  • Frosting Tip #4
  • Frosting Tip #233
  • Frosting Tip #12 (white part of eyes)
  • White Fondant
  • Leaf Shaped Cookie Cutter (teeth)

Use frosting tip #233 with your orange frosting to make the fuzzy look for this monster. Use tip #12 to make the white part of the monster’s eyes. Use tip #4 to make the black part on the eyes with the black frosting. Add the candy corns on either side to make the horns. If needed, you can use some frosting on the back of each to hold them up in place.

Roll out the white fondant and use the cookie cutter to cut out the teeth. Layer each “tooth” slightly on top of the other so they overlap just a little. Trim them as needed to make them shorter from the top. Place on your cupcake.

Monster Cupcake Decorations

Purple Squid Monster Cupcake

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • Purple Frosting
  • White Frosting
  • Black Frosting
  • Red Icing Gel
  • Toothpicks
  • Frosting Tip #10 (body of monster)
  • Frosting Tip #12 (white of eye)
  • Frosting Tip #4 (black of eye)

Frost your cupcakes in white. Use frosting tip #10 with the purple frosting to make a round shape in the middle of your cupcake then go all around the body to make the “tentacles” of your monster.

Use frosting tip #12 to make the big, white eyeball. Next, take a clean toothpick and dip it into your frosting gel (you only need a small amount). Start at the top of your eyeball and work your way down to make the little veins.

Use frosting tip #4 with black frosting to make the black part of the monster’s eyeball and you’re done!

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • Coconut Pecan Frosting
  • Candy Corn (horns)
  • Frosting Tip #12 (white of eye)
  • Frosting Tip #4 (black of eye)
  • White Fondant (teeth)
  • Small Leaf Shaped Cookie Cutter

Frost cupcakes with coconut pecan frosting. Use tip #12 to fill in the big white eye and top it off with black frosting using tip #4. Use the candy corn to add the horns.

Note: You may need to give them some support if they don’t want to stay in place. Simply add some dark frosting to the back of each to help them stand up.

Use white fondant to make the two teeth. Cut them out using a leaf shaped cookie cutter or you could simply cut out two small triangles on your own. Add the mouth to the monster using tip #12 and then place your fondant teeth from the mouth.
