Darth Maul Cupcake
This Darth Maul cupcake was a “Phantom Menace” indeed! It was pretty fun to make though. Truthfully, this is one design that will probably be best on a cake instead of tons of cupcakes as the details on the Sith’s face are pretty intricate.
That is, unless you have a good little stencil to work off of to draw them on with a food writer and lots of patience!

* Darth Maul stencil (I made my own from a printout)
* Black food writer
* Red fondant
* White fondant (for the eyes)
* Black fondant (for base of cupcake and hood)
* Orange food writer (lining the outside of eyes)
* Exacto knife
* Yellow fondant (for the eyes)

I used a printout and then traced Darth Maul onto wax paper and then colored in the details. Then, I used an Exacto knife to carve out the necessary details so I could trace them onto the fondant. If you are going to do this, you might need two separate stencils, you’ll see why when you start to cut!
Next, I rolled out the red fondant, cut out the Darth Maul shape and then laid the stencil over and began coloring in the details with the black food writer.
I had to take a few breaks to let the food ink dry out. I was afraid it might smudge and ruin my little Sith Lord, but eventually finished him!
Next, I took a small amount of white fondant and cut out two eye shapes and laid them in place. The yellow fondant was used as the colored part of the eye. I dotted it with the black food writer and his face was done!
The easiest part was laying the “hood” to enclose his face, black fondant was used for this part and then he was finished.
So, nice and easy right?
