Bat Cupcake Ideas

Bat Cupcakes

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • Green Frosting
  • Red Frosting (for eyes)
  • White Fondant (fangs)
  • Tootsie Rolls (body)
  • Wilton Frosting Tip #2 (for eyes)
  • Fudge Mint Cookies (wings)

First you will want to frost your cupcakes with the green frosting or color of your choice. Then prepare the bat body by taking a tootsie roll and molding the top part to make them look like little ears. You can do this by either using your fingers or taking a small sculpting knife and pressing down on top of the tootsie roll and then shape the pointy ears.

Lay the bat body down on a plate so you can play with how you want to arrange it on your cupcake. Next, cut one fudge mint cookie in half with a sharp knife. Be careful when cutting because it might break in the wrong place if you are not careful. Note: Even if it does break you can always use some chocolate frosting to mend it and cover it up so you don’t waste any cookies!

Place each half of the cookie on either side of the tootsie roll and arrange it how you think is best. Once you have it just as you want it to be placed pick the pieces up and arrange them on your cupcake.

Lastly, use the red frosting to dot your eyes. You can also use round, red hot candies if you prefer. To make the bat’s fangs, cut two small triangles out of the white, rolled fondant or you can also use some white decorative sprinkles as well. This might be a good idea if you are making a lot of them.

How to Make Easy Fondant Bat Cupcakes

Fondant Bat Cupcakes

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • Black Fondant
  • Small Bat Cookie Cutter
  • Orange Frosting

This is a very easy one to make and all you need are the supplies above and your cookie cutter!

The one above was carved out by hand but it will be tedious if you are making a dozen or more! The fastest way is to use the cookie cutter to speed things up.

First, roll out the black fondant (you can add black icing gel to white fondant to make it) and use your bat cookie cutter to cut out as many bats as you need. If you are laying the bat flat on the cupcake then this can be done quickly.

If you want the bat to stick up from the cupcake (like a cupcake pick would) then you need to prepare the bats a day before your event so the fondant has time to harden and hold its shape.

Easy Cookie Bat Cupcakes

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • Fudge Mint Cookies
  • White Frosting, Black Frosting (for eyes)
  • Frosting Tip # 3 ( for white of eyes)
  • Purple Frosting
  • Chocolate chips (for bat ears)

Frost cupcakes and place the fudge mint cookie on the cupcake (centered). Cut another cookie in half with a sharp knife to make the wings. It’s okay if they look uneven because bat wings are not even either.

Position your wings as shown or where you think they look the best. Next use tip #3 to frost on the white eyes and the black part of eye. Also frost on the bat’s mouth with some small fangs.

I forgot to put the ears on this bat but you can add them easily using chocolate chips.

Fuzzy Bats

Cupcake Decorating Supplies Needed

  • Orange Frosting
  • Chocolate Frosting (for bat)
  • Frosting Tip # 233

This is another easy bat to make. All you need to do is frost your cupcakes then use frosting tip #233 with chocolate frosting and pipe your bat shape. This tip will make the bat look fuzzy. You might want to have a bat drawing to guide you as you make yours.
